Usage Information
Use as a Campfire
Burns any type of wood or pressed wood logs
- Use three wood logs or light desired amount of pressed wood
- Place one wood log in the bottom corner to corner and the other two in pyramid style
- Use the optional Pit Spark Shield if you are in an area that has fire restrictions
- Use as a BBQ (Cook over wood or charcoal.)
Wood
- Light a wood fire in the bottom firebox
- Let the wood burn to embers
- Place chromed cooking grate on top of pit and start cooking your food
- If the fire burns down, lower cooking grate to the second level braces or even down on top of the firebox
- Use the optional Pit Grate Grabber to move the grate to the different levels
Charcoal
- Place the steel charcoal grate on the second level of braces
- Light charcoal on top of grate (add flavored wood chips if desired)
- Once the charcoals are ready place the chromed cooking grate on the top and start cooking your food
- If there are windy conditions you may want to light your charcoal and dump them in the bottom of the firebox then place the cooking grate on the top of the box. Use for Dutch Oven Cooking
- Light charcoal and place in the bottom firebox
- Use a 12" dutch oven (or smaller) in the firebox
- Place charcoal over top of dutch oven and cook until ready
- You can also cook over the dutch oven by putting the cooking grate on the second level braces
Use for River Rafting
- You may use the firebox by itself
- Set up the firebox and use the four hitch clips provided to lock the bottom fire pan to the side walls
- Place wood or charcoal inside the firebox
- Set chromed cooking grate on top of the firebox to cook your food
- Use the Pit Tote Bag to transport the firebox cooking / charcoal grates and optional Pit Spark Shield
Use the Free Pit Tote Bag to divide the weight. The Mobile Pit was designed so that all of the pieces fit inside the unit. The pit Tote bag will carry the bottom firebox and two grates giving you an even load on each side.
